Although this is titled "Devlog 01," I have actually been deep in the development of my second IP for the last six months. Between a demanding schedule and the work itself, I am only just now finding the time to formally document the journey.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project has been applying the lessons and techniques I picked up during my first IP. It’s incredible to see the progress: I’ve managed to compress level design and other core game dev elements into just six months, work that previously took me two years to learn and implement.
Where I Stand Today
I am now entering a pivotal phase for Havock Studios. With a target release date set for August 2026, the project is approximately 90% finished. Most of the heavy lifting regarding scene composition and core mechanics is behind me; in fact, nearly all of my game scenes are now fully functional.
Lately, my focus has shifted toward the aesthetic and administrative finish line:
Art and Assets: I am refining the game art and finalizing assets to ensure the visual narrative matches the technical ambition I’ve set for this title.
Steam Integration: I am currently setting up my Steam store page for the game.
Playtesting: I am actively running playtests to identify and fix any friction points in the user experience.
The Challenge of the "Last Mile"
If I’m being candid, the finishing and polishing stages are the most demanding parts of game development, at least for me. It is a meticulous process that tests my patience, especially while I am balancing engineering coursework, sprint training, and my professional responsibilities as a teacher.
Despite the pressure of this multi-disciplinary lifestyle, I am pushing through. My goal is to ensure that this second IP reflects the same commitment to quality and design that defines my work.
Support My Journey
I hope you’ll find the time to follow along as I approach the final launch. If the project resonates with you, it would mean a lot to me if you would check out my work and add it to your Steam Wishlist once the page goes live. Your support is exactly what allows an indie creator like me to keep building.
